The Product Reviews Widget lets you showcase customer reviews in different layouts on your store’s product pages. By displaying authentic social proof, you can build trust with potential customers and encourage more sales.
How to add and customize the Reviews Widget
You can add the Product Reviews Widget directly from your Shopify Theme Editor. Follow the steps below:
- Inside your Shopify Themes menu, click “Customize” to open the Theme Editor.
- Select the product page template (or any other page) you would like to edit.
- Click “Add section” on the left-side menu, and select “Reviews Widget”.
- Drag and drop the widget’s app block where you would like it to appear.
- Click “Save”

Customize the appearance of your review cards:
- Review Card Shadow – Choose between Classic, Dark, or Light styles
- Review Card Corners – Select Rounded, Sharp, Slightly Rounded, or Extra Rounded

Customize your Reviews Widget colors to match your brand design.
You can customize the following:
- Widget header (text, bar fill, background)
- Rating distribution dropdown
- Buttons (text, background, hover)
- Review card appearance
Text Customization
Customize the text that appears on your widget elements:
- Review (singular)
- Reviews (plural)
- Write a review – button text
- Show more reviews – button text
- Product page link text (e.g., “View products”)
Preferences
We offer multiple display settings for your Reviews Widget:
- Widget visibility – Control when the widget appears (default: Always shown)
- Show “Write a review” button
When enabled, the “Write a review” button will be displayed on the widget, allowing customers to submit reviews. - Show review date
When enabled, the review submission date will be displayed on each review card. - Show item type
When enabled, the product or variant information will be displayed on the review card. - Thumbnail size
Adjust the thumbnail size of customer images in supported layouts. - Reviews per page
Select the number of reviews displayed before clicking “Show more reviews”.
Product Pages
The Product Reviews Widget appears on product pages where it is enabled.
Customers can:
- View the total number of reviews and star ratings
- Expand the reviews section
- Click Write a review to submit feedback (if enabled)
- Click on a review to open full details in a pop-up
- Click Show more reviews to load additional reviews
- Sort reviews (if enabled)
Star Rating Widget
The Star Rating Widget displays your product’s average rating and total review count, helping customers quickly evaluate product quality and build trust before making a purchase.
Why use the Star Rating Widget?
To add the Star Rating Widget using the Shopify Theme Editor:
- Go to Online Store → Themes in Shopify Admin.
- Click Customize on your active theme.
- Open the product page template.
- Click Add Block.
- Select Star Ratings from the app blocks list.
- Drag and place the widget where you want it to appear.
- Customize the widget settings.
- Click Save.
Customization Options
Star Size
Adjust the size of the rating stars. Available options:
- Small
- Medium
- Large
Star Color
Choose the color of the rating stars to match your store design.
Show Review Count
Show Review Count
Display or hide the total number of product reviews next to the stars.

Widget Alignment
Adjust the alignment of the widget within the product section. Available options:
- Left
- Center
- Right
Text Color
Customize the color of the review count text.
Show empty stars when there are no reviews:
When enabled, the Star Rating Widget will display “empty” Rating icons on products with no reviews collected.
Note
The Star Rating Widget displays ratings and review counts for the relevant product only when placed on a product page.
